A step-by-step guide for Steak Fajitas!
Steak Fajitas, pronounced as steak (fah-hee-tas) are generally made with grilled strips of skirt steak with onions and ball peppers, served with sizzling hot fresh tortillas.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of flank steak or skirt steak
- 1 large onion, peeled and sliced, 2 large bell peppers, stemmed and seeded, sliced lengthwise.
Marinade
- Juice of 1 lime and two tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
- ½ tablespoon ground cumin
- ½ fresh pepper seeded and finely chopped
- ¼ chopped fresh cilantro, including stems
Method
- Mix all the marinade ingredients and set the steak in the marinade and let it sit for an hour or more.
- Heat a pan and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Then add the steak, frying on each side for about 3 minutes. When the steak turns brown, remove the pan and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Reduce the heat of the pan to medium and add onions, bell pepper coking them for 5 minutes.
- Slice the meat against the grain into thin slices.
- Serve Steak Fajitas hot with shredded cheese, cream and warm tortillas.
